Art Alliance Fall/Winter 2010 Schedule!
Youth pottery classes include hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques using earthen clay, glazing and learning to work in a clay studio. All supplies and firing fees are included. Class size is limited to eight students, pre-registration required, with payment due before the first class. Students should be prepared to have a great clay experience--dress for fun!
$75/6 weeks. Supplies included.

Ages: 6-8 years old,

The 6-8 year old class explores hand building techniques: pinching, coiling or slab building. Using these skills students will make bowls, rattles, bird houses, fairy houses, tea pots, wall plaques, or even animal sculptures... the possibilities are endless.

Week one- Intro to Handbuilding
Week two-Intro to wheel throwing
Week three-pick Wheel Throwing or Handbuilding depending on the skill level of the student
Week four- begin glazing and work on independent projects with instruction
Week five-continue work on projects in progress or begin new projects
Week six-finish glazing, work on projects and studio clean up

Teen Senior Project Class,
Did you choose Pottery and Ceramics for your Teen Senior Project? This class is for you! Fulfills 20 hours of studio time, class size limited for more individualized instruction.
Saturdays, TBA
Young people who participate in the arts for at least three hours on three days each week through at least one full year are:
- 4 times more likely to be recognized for academic achievement
- 3 times more likely to be elected to class office within their schools
- 4 times more likely to participate in a math and science fair
- 3 times more likely to win an award for school attendance
- 4 times more likely to win an award for writing an essay or poem
Young artists, as compared with their peers, are likely to:
- Attend music, art, and dance classes nearly three times as frequently
- Participate in youth groups nearly four times as frequently
- Read for pleasure nearly twice as often
- Perform community service more than four times as often
